Before You Order: Reading a K-Beauty Ingredient List on the Store Page and on the Korean Box

Quick answer

Check the store page, then the packaging: the YesStyle page we read points shoppers there for the latest list. On Korean packaging, look for 전성분 (all ingredients). Ingredients generally run from the largest amount down; those at 1% or less, fragrance and colorants can appear in any order.

Where is the ingredient list on the store page?

  • YesStyle: The product page we checked lists ingredients in English under “Major Ingredients.” It also says, “Ingredients subject to change at manufacturer’s discretion,” and “For the most complete and up-to-date list of ingredients, please refer to product packaging.”
  • Stylevana’s help center directs shoppers to the “More information” tab on the product page for the full list. It says “certain newly launched, limited-edition, or niche items may temporarily not yet have full ingredients list ready online,” and that customer service will check with the brand if you ask.

For shipping and returns at each store, see our US store comparison.

How is the list ordered?

Korean box US label
Order Largest amount first “Descending order of predominance”
At 1% or less Any order (also fragrance and colorants) “May be declared without regard for predominance”
Fragrance Can be written as 향료; listed allergens above set levels must be named Can be listed as “fragrance”
Products that are also drugs Not covered here Active ingredients identified first, before the cosmetic ingredients
Korean rule as quoted by the Korea Cosmetic Association; US rule from the FDA’s labeling summary and 21 CFR 701.3. Checked November 3, 2026.

The order can help you compare amounts, subject to the exceptions above. It does not tell you an ingredient’s exact percentage or where the 1% group begins.

Why might the store page and the box disagree?

  • Formulas change. YesStyle says ingredients are “subject to change at manufacturer’s discretion.”
  • Labeling rules differ. Korean and US labels follow different rules, as the table above shows.
  • Names use different languages. Korean labels use Korean ingredient names; the YesStyle page we read uses English. The dictionary can help you compare them.

On the Korean box: reading 전성분

Look for 전성분 (all ingredients) on Korean packaging. The Korea Cosmetic Association’s ingredient dictionary provides “standardized names” for full ingredient labeling (화장품 전성분표시에 사용하는 표준화 명칭). It standardizes Korean names and provides English names from INCI or EU CosIng for reference when available. Look up a Korean name there to check for an English reference name.

Fragrance can appear as the single word 향료. Under Korea’s labeling rules, listed fragrance allergens must be named in the ingredient list when they exceed 0.01% in a rinse-off product or 0.001% in a leave-on product, judged ingredient by ingredient.

A quick check before you order

  1. Look for the ingredient list on the product page, not just ingredients highlighted in the description.
  2. If you avoid a specific ingredient, look for it in the whole list, even near the end.
  3. When the parcel arrives, read the box before you open the product. YesStyle excludes opened beauty products from change-of-mind returns.
  4. If the list is missing online, ask the store. Stylevana says customer service will check with the brand.

Questions

Why is the ingredient list online different from the box?

Formulas can change, and Korean and US labeling rules differ. The YesStyle page we read tells shoppers to check the packaging for the most up-to-date list.

Are Korean ingredient lists in order of amount?

Yes, from the largest amount down. Ingredients at 1% or less, fragrance and colorants can be listed in any order.

What does 향료 mean on a Korean box?

Fragrance. Listed fragrance allergens above set levels must also be named in the ingredient list.

How do I translate a Korean ingredient name?

Look it up in the Korea Cosmetic Association’s ingredient dictionary, which provides English names from INCI or EU CosIng for reference when available.
